First Pilot Project Presented on PC³

As part of the interdisciplinary student project work “Platform for Core Competencies Co‑investment” of HSE University and IRP Technology, the first pilot project has been launched – the development and production of advanced rotary steerable systems (RSS) for oil production. The project was initiated by an enterprise within the Rostec State Corporation structure.

The development will foster healthy competition in the global oilfield equipment market. Leveraging the capabilities of the Platform for Core Competencies Co‑investment, all the necessary prerequisites are now in place for this project – developed in cooperation with leading representatives of the oil and gas industry and information technology – to secure its niche in the global market for high‑tech oil production equipment. The development has become particularly relevant amid the increasing use of horizontal drilling in hard‑to‑reach locations.

Among the initiative subgroups of the PC³ student project, the most active role in launching the pilot project is played by the “Business Analytics and Financial Modeling” team, which is conducting a competitiveness assessment using the MCC model (Matrix of Core Competencies‑based model) and identifying the competencies required for project implementation, as well as building a financial and economic model with an assessment of participant contributions. Also of significant importance are the roles of the “Project Management” team (task allocation and progress tracking), “Data Science and Recommendation Systems” (identifying potential project partners based on required core competencies), and “Positioning and Promotion” (market and competitor analysis, identifying key indicators for inclusion in the MCC model and the financial and economic model).
