Seminar “Prospects for Hydrogen Energy – Expectations and Challenges”

On October 27, the Department of World Economy at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of HSE University, together with the Joint Department with the Foreign Trade Association “Avtopromimport” and Rosatom State Corporation, held an online seminar dedicated to the development of hydrogen energy worldwide.

Seminar participants discussed the future of hydrogen energy in Russia and the EU, particularly in Germany, the opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of the strategies of the Russian Federation, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the European Union, as well as the prospects for Russian-German partnership in this area. In addition, the scientific and technical aspects of hydrogen energy development, its competitiveness factors, and an assessment of its economic efficiency were examined.

Presentations were delivered by:

  • Sergey L. Solovyov (Doctor of Technical Sciences, member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosatom State Corporation, Scientific Director of VNIIAES JSC (Rosatom State Corporation), Scientific Director of the Rosatom State Corporation’s priority area of scientific and technological development “Small Modular Nuclear Power Plants”);

  • Yury P. Stetsenko (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Representative Office of the Russian Export Center in Germany);

  • Yury V. Melnikov (Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Analyst for Electric Power at the Energy Center of the Skolkovo Business School).

The discussion was moderated by:

  • Igor A. Makarov (Head of the Department of World Economy);

  • Andrey Y. Podchufarov (Head of the Joint Department with the Foreign Trade Association “Avtopromimport”, member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosatom State Corporation, member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rostechnadzor).
